NEWS: CollegeGear Affiliate Phone Number

Back in 2003, I joined CollegeGear.com as an affiliate for my college sports website Collegesportsinfo.com. I had decent sales and received payments. Fast forward a few years and their customer service is non-existent.

For the past year, I've been trying to contact CollegeGear.com part of the FeelGoodNetwork affiliate program. They have a contact form on their website, so you'd think it would be as simple as filling in the form. No dice. I've done this 10 times with no response. Luckily, I have about 5 email addresses from employees there since I had been one of the original affiliates. Still, no responses from the emails I sent to them.

Next step...find a phone number. Alas, no phone number on the website. Next step is a whois search, but even there they have a bad phone number.

So I finally found a number that rings. It was on an old PDF contract from them. But when I called, it's an answering service. So i still have no clue if they will get back to me. The person I spoke with even gave me another number to try (800-939-9829) and that number was no good.

From Amazon:
877-821-9531

Some numbers that no longer work:
(800) 988-7835 (answering service...disconnected now)
(800) 939-9829 (disconnected)
(206) 547-1411 (disconnected number they still have everywhere)
(206) 336-5594 (used to be the CEOs number but is now some other company)
(206) 529-5024 (marketing manager phone number that is no longer working)

6 cures for common SEO mistakes - iMediaConnection.com: "Article HIghlights:

* Quality and original content are what create the highest SEO visibility and rankings

* Rewriting URLs can prompt Google and other search engines to index deep pages

How bulletproof is your SEO campaign? Do you have all your bases covered? Are you getting the most organic traffic available? Smart marketers crave targeted, low-cost web traffic, especially in this challenging economy. When implemented correctly, a finely tuned SEO campaign has the ability to drive traffic efficiently, especially when compared to other forms of marketing.

However, many sites don't take full advantage of the power of a well-honed SEO campaign that has implemented both on-the-page and off-the-page SEO best practices. SEO is both an art and a science, and I view the science part as 90 percent of that balance, even though there is some debate on what true best practices include.

With that in mind, listed here are six common SEO best practices that are often overlooked. The techniques are usually quick and painless to implement and can have dramatic effects on SEO results."

NEWS: Should you be sued for linking?

In an age where the web appears to be getting more and more open, with the rise of data portability and everybody sharing stuff with everybody else, it is fascinating to see that a newspaper publisher is suing another one that is linking to its content.

GateHouse Media Inc., which owns 125 Massachusetts newspapers as well as web properties like WickedLocal.com, sued the New York Times Co. because its Boston.com-run website "Your Town Newton" was posting headlines and small article snippets from WickedLocal.com.
